Been awhile...

A lot has happened. I've signed up for the 12th Annual Miracle Miles 15K and I am very excited. It's about a month away and I've been training for a month already. I've been doing long runs every Saturday and yesterday I did 6 miles. I've been doing intervals, 1/2 mile running/1/2 mile walking but I'm thinking I'm walking too much. Like my body kinda settles into lethargy and it takes more effort to start running again. I'm gonna experiment with different distances and what not.

I'm excited about the 15K because I think the training will help me get a feel for how it'll be when I train for the half. Also, it's good to get more races in before the half. I did a 5K beginning of August and that was a wake-up call for how races go. I burned up way too much energy at the push and that taught me that I need to pace myself or else I can't finish. It was super fun though. There's a great energy and it was really cool.

I had a problem with really bad headaches after my first few long runs (throbbing pain, I couldn't even sleep) but I figured out a way to lessen them. I think it came down to nutrition because this past Saturday (after 6 miles) I increased my normal food intake. I added an extra chicken sandwich and a smoothie and that helped a lot.
